Our pilot project involves a small-scale trial at the Municipality of Lousada, Portugal. This pilot program is focused on testing the ecological evaluation and compensation methodologies. This program involves the local administration, schools and the community.
At present, the fauna, flora and habitats within the muncipality of Lousada are being Identified and collated. Degraded areas that need ecological restoration and high-value areas that are under threat are being surveyed.
Participants in the pilot project (students, teachers, youth workers, etc) will be invited to use IMPRINT+ tools (web app) to evaluate their individual or collective footprint. After becoming aware of their impact on the planet, participants will be invited to collaborate in the ecological restoration of degraded areas e.g. through reforestation, the building of wildlife shelters or collecting waste or contributing to the preservation of threatened species or habitats. This pilot program will help to test and tune the integrated use of the different IMPRINT+ tools. Take a look at Lousada’s rich fauna, flora and habitats, and see what we have been doing there!
